Golden Laneway Suite

The laneway suite in Golden B.C. was designed by Haven Works in 2016/2017. Construction was completed in 2018 by Zimmerman Construction.

The client brief was to create a functional, durable, and rustic suite to accommodate friends and family for outdoor recreation in the surrounding mountain range. The layout was designed to be reconfigured to maximize area for sleeping while maintaining a cozy chalet feel. The high ceilings, exceptionally crafted from fir timber, provide an openness and scale that mitigates the relatively small footprint and introduces a rustic material approach throughout. SIPS panels were used to increase thermal performance, and utilization was maximized by locating storage and utility spaces within the steeper roof profiles at the front and back of the building.
